OBSCENE 2026: An exhibition on intimacy
On Jan 1st 2026, I told myself that by the end of the year, I was going to accomplish my goal of producing my first solo art gallery. But by Jan 7th, our city became a warzone. My art became an echo chamber for grief and anxiety and I could no longer imagine my gallery dreams being a priority. Thankfully, the voices of my peers assured me that art, in all its forms, is still needed.
Liberation comes in many forms, and I want to curate a body of work that will grant that for all who experience it. I want to inspire challenging conversations, and for each person to leave having learned something, and with a renewed sense of curiosity and adventure.
If you follow my work, you’ll know that I often lean into themes of sensuality and creative identity expression. Pursuing self in these areas through my artistry has been extremely liberating to me, and I have been fortunate enough to be a catalyst for this same liberation in others. That is my ultimate goal for this project: intimate liberation, no matter how big or small.
I have begun to build a multi-disciplinary body of work that is centered on themes of human sexuality and alternative intimacy practices. Goals:
1. Give people an experience that challenges their perspective, and offers an opportunity to gain constructive insight into the alternative ways that humans experience intimacy.
2. allow people who practice alternative intimacy expressions the opportunity to feel seen, heard, and revered as art, rather than feel shamed or “othered”.
In order for me to pursue this body of work with the heart and passion that I know it deserves, I need to be in an environment that supports that mental space. With that being said, I have made the decision to take some time away from Minneapolis, and spend a few months in Ontario, Canada. My trajectory as an artist deserves the space to flourish, and I am doing what I believe will make that space. I plan to open the gallery in the fall, and will be orchestrating some preliminary events, panels, and discussions from afar. My heart is forever in Minneapolis, no matter how far I may be.
Thank you to all that have supported my vision, and those who will join me in this next phase of my artistic evolution.
Coming soon…
